Having heard Cañete’s words after his debate with Valenciano, I felt really disappointed. Not only because of his mind, but especally, because I realized the kind of politicians we have in Spain. I could have thought there are some politicians who are chauvinist or even racist, but I would never have imagined that they are able to show their mind in a debate. Not to mention the fact that, in this case, Cañete is trying to be elected for being in European Parliament. From my point of view, the fact that a minister, a person who has the power in Spain, speaks in this way, is unacceptable. In my opinion, he showed apathy or indifference in the debate but the worst thing is that he attacked his opponent because, according to his words, he feels a kind of superiority.
Today he has apologized, but, from my view, he made it very later, and in spite of his apology, this situation is totally unreasonable. Furthermore, his way of thinking is very old-fashioned, and I think he should resign due to this situation or if it’s possible, PP Party should choose another candidate in order to represent Spanish people in Europe. Definitely, this kind of situations, make people lose the faith not only in policy, but especially in politicians. They are supposed to be people who are going to solve our problems. But, sincerely, it’s difficult to trust a person who express his mind against Human Rights like equality between women and men.
